Don Taylor has a wife, three children, grandchildren and Lou Gehrig’s Disease…
Don is a husband, father, brother, friend, hard worker and boy scout leader who has been stricken with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). This disease is initially crippling and usually fatal. Even though he now can move very little, can no longer speak, and gets his food through a stomach tube, he is still as adventurous and upbeat as ever, communicating using an eye-gaze computer.
The expenses involved in a debilitating illness such as ALS are staggering, as is the accompanying loss of income. Don, who has had a long career with the US Army and Department of Defense as well as ten years at FedEx, is now totally disabled. Don has worked hard all his life, but he will never be able to work again.

Don and his family have helped many people.
As a young man Don became an Eagle Scout before entering a life in the military.
Don stayed active in scouting, not only helping to lead his son’s scout troop,
but also positively influencing many others through his consistent can-do, upbeat attitude and cheerful leadership.
His oldest son, Matthew is in the Navy. Younger son, Chris is working on his own Eagle Scout.
Don's daughter, Nicole is an accomplished artist
who helped create an annual fundraising event for St Jude’s Children’s hospital.
Don is well known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone in need, no matter the circumstances.
He has always had time for others.

Now They Need Your Help
Don is currently staying with his mother, Ruth Taylor, in Fort Collins, Colorado while he is getting alternative/holistic treatments that have been very successful in increasing his stamina and overall health. Plus Don's family provides only very high quality, organic foods instead of the cans of corn syrup-based food usually prescribed for his situation. But the treatments and special foods are very costly and require time consuming work. The Taylor family needs your help to continue Don's vital therapy and assistence.
Don Taylor has been battling ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) since 2005. In addition to the conventional, “make-him-comfortable” therapies prescribed for ALS, Don began an innovative therapy with Colorado MD, Dr. Roger Billica. This intensive, nutritional program has successfully benefited patients in 70% of its ALS cases around the country. Unfortunately, this new holistic protocol is not covered by Don's insurance.

Thanks to the generosity of friends and family last fall, Don was able to start the intensive IV treatments, and within three weeks they were shown to be successful in increasing his stamina and improving his ability to swallow. The debilitating coughing was greatly reduced.

Nurse Martha, administers Don's twice weekly IV treatments at Dr. Billica's office.

His caregivers noticed that his neck and back are stronger, and the family noticed he was speaking better.
Because the treatments are helping, Don has continued the IVs over decreasing intervals. He is currently doing the treatments only twice a week and is still stable. But Don wants more than “stable,” he wants more improvement, so his doctor has started some additional innovative 'frequency' treatments to help his brain connect with his muscles and mineral lithium to help his neurons.
But the IVs are very costly and the Taylor family needs your help to continue this vital therapy. His current weekly treatment costs are beyond their means and previous fundraising dollars depleted. Without help, the medications and treatments keeping Don stable are unattainable.
Please help us during this time when hope is critical.
